Learning
Increasing numbers of children are now reported to be struggling to learn at school. If your child has recently been diagnosed with some kind of learning challenge, rest assured, you are most certainly not alone! There is a wide variety of labels associated with learning difficulties. These labels are helpful in many ways; but it is important to remember that every child who has been labelled will have that label for their own unique combination of reasons.
A child's struggle to achieve academically may be the result of a large number of factors, which might not appear at first glance to be directly related to learning. Perhaps the child has difficulty concentrating at school because his/her brain is not working as efficiently as it might? Perhaps it is not working efficiently because the body is not processing food effectively enough to allow all the nutrition necessary for efficient brain function? Perhaps the child is having to cope with emotional issues in the family, such as divorce, bereavement or adjustment to new siblings? All of these factors may influence the way a child performs at school.
A Sunflower practitioner understands that a child is a complex integrated living system. When one aspect of that system is not working as it should, it will have an impact on the entire system. The Sunflower Programme enables the practitioner to examine the child as a whole rather than as a series of separate parts. In other words, the Sunflower practitioner and child work together in a way that is appropriate for that particular child and no other. As a result, every Sunflower Programme is tailor-made to the needs of each child.
