Assisted Funding (Bursaries)

Sunflower ProgrammeThe Sunflower Trust has developed an assisted funding programme (bursaries) to help parents who might otherwise be unable, or find it difficult, to cover all or some of the cost of their child going through the Sunflower Programme.

Last year, the Sunflower Trust awarded 28 bursaries to families that could otherwise not afford to take advantage of the unique therapy that the Sunflower Programme provides.

Assessment is based on a number of criteria including financial considerations, the child's medical history, educational assessments and a parent's ability to commit to the programme at home. Assisted funding is only available to children who:

  • have not been through the Sunflower Programme as a private patient;
  • are committed to completing the programme within 6 months;
  • are committed to undertaking a screening assessment on completion of the programme.

Please be aware that past experience has demonstrated that:

  • families who travel a long distance to a Sunflower Practitioner have difficulty completing the programme;
  • single parent families benefit from the additional support of friends or family whilst children go through the programme.

The Sunflower Trust acknowledges that all of the children and families who apply for bursary funding are severely stressed and face difficulties with health, learning and confidence as well as experiencing difficult financial circumstances - all would benefit from the Sunflower Programme.
